Hi Reader, Hope you've been drawing lately. Two things to share today: the September gallery is live, and October's challenge is officially open. ✨ September Art Challenge Gallery is Now Live! Theme: Your Favorite Anime, Manga, or Original Character The September Art Challenge gallery is now live on our Student Art page. This month's theme was Your Favorite Anime, Manga, or Original Character, and our students drew the ones they can't stop thinking about. You'll find Luffy, Madoka, and Shinobu next to original characters you're meeting for the first time. Every piece in there is someone who finished a drawing and then actually posted it, which is the harder half. Take your time scrolling. Your work will also be shared with manga publishers and industry professionals in Japan — real eyes from the industry will see your art. ⭐ Bonus for paid course students: Your submission will also be shared directly with manga editors at Japanese publishing houses. 🎨 October Art Challenge Theme: Halloween October is the one month when an ordinary school hallway can become a haunted mansion, a quiet classmate can show up with fangs, and the comic-relief character can wear the most terrifying costume in the episode. Halloween fits anime and manga almost too well: dramatic silhouettes, strange creatures, glowing magic, and just enough darkness to make every color hit harder. Maybe your character is a vampire carrying a grudge older than the town they haunt, a witch whose familiar causes more trouble than her spells, or a yokai buying candy at a convenience store after midnight. They could be a battle-worn hero dressed as a ghost because their friends made them join the party, or an OC whose everyday outfit already looks suspiciously perfect for October. Creepy, cute, funny, elegant, or completely unhinged — Halloween has room for all of it. Choose a character you love or bring one of your own into the night. Give them a costume, turn them into a monster, place them somewhere haunted, or build the whole piece around that sharp orange-and-purple glow.
