Anime Art Academy Teacher's Advice to Students - How to draw a crouching pose
Published 4 months ago • 1 min read
Hello ,
Many people have the same problems when they draw. Let's learn about drawing techniques again, this time by referring to advice given by a professional Japanese teacher in response to a question from a real student. Let's use it as a reference when you draw illustrations and manga!
Student Hello For this assignment I wanted to do a harder pose involving the legs to be bent. A thing that I would change though is the arm length they seen a little too long.
Student's drawing
Teacher Wow, this is so impressive! Great work! You’ve drawn a lovely girl and a nice pose! The legs may appear longer due to the pose. First, I visualized your pose part by part. It’s important to go through this process during the sketching stage. You’ll notice that the character is on tiptoes, which can make the pose harder to balance. You may also see the difference in arm length on the back. When the distance between the torso and legs is close, like in this case, placing the heels down helps keep the center of gravity stable and gives the legs a more natural balance. Keep in mind that unnatural proportions in figure drawing can often be fixed by adjusting the pose, not just the length of the limbs or parts. Keep up the good work!
